Noble Noise
Three months of wisdom and Insight through meditative community.
Noble Noise is an twelve-week deep dive into meditative community. When we come together consistently as practitioners, something emerges that’s greater than individual practice alone: shared learning, awareness, and integration that deepen everyone’s experience.
Upali will guide the group while centering peer-to-peer connection rather than traditional teacher-student dynamics, with the intention of supporting a community that continues beyond the twelve weeks. Because this is a new experiment, we’ll co-create the space together and learn what supports us best as a Sangha. The most important step is simply showing up—your presence and participation are what make Noble Noise possible.

It means that when we come together consistently as a group of meditators, we find something greater than our individual practice and even something greater than the sum of the group's parts. The learning, growth, awareness, Insight, and more that happens in a meditative community create more relevant and permeating Insight and integration in individual practice. Noble Noise is a possibility to experience the Buddha’s claim that Noble friendship is the entirety of the path.
-
By showing up! Like meditation practice, showing up and participating is the first step in receiving the benefits of Noble Noise. It takes consistent commitment, but fortunately, you’ll have a group to share that commitment with and support you in the joys and challenges of commitment. Additionally, you’ll receive the structured support of facilitation by Upali for twelve weeks.
-
My role will be to facilitate our group for 8 weeks in hopes of creating a practice community that continues beyond the time that I’m the active facilitator. In particular, my main role will be to facilitate peer-to-peer interaction in a relevant and supportive way as opposed to only teacher-student support found in Q&A Dharma talks or 1:1 student-teacher interviews.
Noble Noise is a relatively new experiment for our community, so we will all be part of co-creating this space and discovering what works bringing our meditator identities and abilities to a group, and I’ll be learning alongside you how to best utilize my facilitator skills in this context of Sangha outside of retreat.
